About Sonny Patel

Sonny Patel is a business-minded intellectual property (IP) professional with an engineering undergrad (B.E.) and a law school post grad (LL.B). He enjoys collaborating with entrepreneurs and inventors to elevate their businesses and innovations. 

The foundation of Sonny’s IP career was built studying and working in Canada, China, England and India. His network of IP professionals in each of these countries is ready to assist clients to broaden the scope of their IP protection and maximize the value of their products.

Sonny’s professional experience has allowed him to practice the law as well as create provincial policies. His work experience includes working for an Ottawa-based IP agency performing IP searches and drafting patent applications, interning in an IP law firm in China preparing commercial agreements, and working for an IP law firm in Ontario drafting patent application material for a patent agent. As well, Sonny has worked for two Ontario Ministries on intellectual property policy as an analyst and advisor. In addition to the IP law field, Sonny has worked for a civil litigation law firm and a criminal law firm.

Using his unique skillset and entrepreneurial thinking, Sonny’s clients were able to prepare for the unexpected because he’s showed them the bigger picture. Clients maximize the value of their ideas by broadening the scope of their innovations while preparing for commercialization. Sonny’s previous clients are influencers, inventors, entertainers, entrepreneurs, and SMEs.

Outside his consulting profession, Sonny is a professional magician. He’s entertained thousands of individuals in 11 countries in 4 languages. He has performed magic for corporations such as Google, Mastercard Foundations, Uline, and many more.

On his free time, Sonny enjoys tutoring youth and mentoring young professionals. He has empowered hundreds of young adults by teaching them how to improve their resumes, fostering their creative talents, and/or helping them to build their businesses. Sonny believes has been given a lot and he has a social obligation to pay it forward.
